What color is love? I've been searching for it's color for a long time. I ask that because I'm wondering why we still are troubled when we catch interracial couples on the street. We look, we stare, and we wonder how the two of them ever came to be. It's as if we are observing a new dinosaur exhibit at the Museum of Modern History in New York. I will admit by this point that I am in an interracial relationship and even if I wasn't it would change my belief about love. I always thought that love was colorless and odorless and we couldn't see it, so why judge what form it comes in?
As a collective whole, I am proud at our progress at accepting love with certain states allowing gay marriage. We are leaning to the side of good judgement in my opinion. It shows that we are expanding the value of love because when love is pure its nothing that can break it. I often hear people say that this world was built on war, but I disagree. It was built on love because only love is something that people would die for. Even hatred has love in it because you love the alternative to whatever hate you are giving out.
In the beginning of our dating experience it was hard for people on the streets to accept us. I would hear men shout things at me or we would get these awful looks. At first, my response was with the same ignorance they were giving me. Then, I realized that I shouldn't let them interfere with my relationship. Its only between him and I and they don't matter. I find it that we are more accepting of gay relationships than interracial relationships.
Especially, when it's a relationship between a black and white couple. Even with that I have noticed that we accept black men with white women more than white men with black women. It's like we go back to slavery and see the slave master with his black mistress. It just doesn't make sense to me at all. We shouldn't care who dates who. What happened to just being happy that love still exist in the world.? There is so much hatred going on that love has become more rare.
Love is a precious gift that we are all blessed with and it shouldn't be tarnished because we are stuck in the 1800's. We have these past ideologies that have been embedded into our moral code that we sometimes aren't even aware of. The air is so thick between both races and we don't know how to clear it. It's fine to associate with different people. Hence the word PEOPLE. That is one thing we all can agree that we have in common.
It's time that we stop worrying about how is kissing who and think about the planet or recycling. I'm basically saying we should focus on something that has true concern. This planet has been around a long time and its growing sick. You really think the Earth cares about if Joe is kissing Kayla? No, its worried about its own state of welfare due to Joe and Kayla. Until we reach that point in humanity where we are more conscious of where we are then there's no hope for personal relations.
